The marriage of Cassandra 'Cass' Teller-Vaux and Brody Vaux was formally dissolved on Friday afternoon at the rim of the Third Street Sinkhole, between Elm and Harbor Road, in a proceeding overseen by the Hon. Sandra Pryce of the New Newmanton Commonwealth Court, Family Division, who administered the dissolution from a folding table positioned approximately four feet from the sinkhole's eastern edge. The site, which has been described in official press materials as a 'subsurface anomaly of indeterminate jurisdiction' — and which, as The New Newmanton News has reported, is currently also slated to become the permanent headquarters of the New Newmanton News Network — was dressed for the occasion with arrangements of dried black roses, two ring-light tripods, and a hand-lettered sign reading 'The End Era' in a serif font. Judge Pryce, who holds a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and has presided over more than four hundred family court proceedings, was wearing, by her own description, 'just my robe.'
Ms. Teller-Vaux, 29, a lifestyle and wellness content creator with 2.3 million followers across platforms, arrived in a custom black wedding gown by a designer she described in her pre-ceremony Story as 'someone you'll be hearing about very soon.' The gown, which she noted was 'the dress I never got to wear the first time because we eloped,' featured a ten-foot train that required two assistants to keep clear of the sinkhole perimeter. Ms. Teller-Vaux, who graduated from the New Newmanton School of Visual Arts with a certificate in digital media and branding, is the founder of the wellness platform Soft Life, Loud Boundaries and the host of the podcast Unsubscribe, which has been downloaded 14 million times. Mr. Vaux, 32, a travel and 'authentic experience' content creator with 1.7 million followers, wore a black suit, black turtleneck, and black boots, and carried a single black calla lily, which he later threw into the sinkhole as the dissolution was signed. He attended Berklee College of Music for one semester before relocating to pursue, as his bio states, 'a life that couldn't be contained by a syllabus.' The couple was married in 2022 in a ceremony on the island of Mykonos, officiated by a certified life coach whose name they have since removed from their respective websites. The wedding content reached a combined 44 million impressions. Ms. Teller-Vaux's mother, Patricia Teller, a licensed aesthetician in Duluth, said through her daughter's publicist that she was 'supportive of Cass in all her chapters.' Mr. Vaux's parents, Raymond and Gail Vaux of Edina, did not respond to a request for comment, though Mr. Vaux noted in his caption, posted while Judge Pryce was still reviewing documents, that his parents 'always knew this day would come, which honestly says more about them than us.'
In a joint statement posted simultaneously to both accounts at 4:17 p.m. — in a carousel format, nine slides, black background, white text, custom font — the former couple wrote that they were 'choosing to honor what this was instead of mourning what it isn't,' and that they had 'outgrown the container of us, which is actually so beautiful when you think about it.' Ms. Teller-Vaux will retain the couple's apartment in the Terraces, their matcha subscription, and the naming rights to their shared brand account, @twoofus_, which she plans to rebrand. Mr. Vaux has relocated to a short-term rental in the Harbor District, which he described in his first post-dissolution Reel as 'a reset space, very raw, very honest.' Custody of their three-year-old Shiba Inu, Miso, was resolved through a separate agreement; Miso, who has his own account with 88,000 followers, will reside primarily with Ms. Teller-Vaux. Brenda Kowalski, who has maintained a lawn chair at the sinkhole's edge since January and was seated in her customary position during the proceedings, said she thought the gown was 'very striking' and offered the couple a granola bar, which they declined but photographed.
