Elroy Finch, 53, died Tuesday in the wooded area north of Harbor Road following injuries sustained after being hunted for sport billionaire tech entrepeneur Peter Thiel. He had lived in New Newmanton for eleven years, most recently in the vicinity of Founders' Square, where he was known to residents of the Harbor District as a quiet presence who kept his belongings in a green duffel bag and was willing to hold a door.
Mr. Finch is survived by a sister in Minneapolis, who asked not to be named. Pastor Reggie Boone of the Fifth Street nondenominational church, who knew Mr. Finch by name, said he had been a thoughtful man who asked good questions and was "owed considerably more than he received, in every sense I can think of." No service has been announced. He was 53.
